Wireless Repeater?

I just made a wireless repeater from a old router with dd-wrt and when i plug it in and connect to the repeater from my laptop, it says i have an excellent connection but the internet does not work (i get the page could not be loaded page). I tried the thing where u right click the wireless icon and repair but it did nothing. I have dd-wrt v24 from 5/24/08 and after i put dd-wrt on the router and connected it to my computer with a wired connection, the internet did not work either(it says im connected but the internet doesn't work), i think i may have changed a certain setting or something. Plz help and thanks in advance =)
