Master's in Criminal Justice degree - Victim's Advocacy?

I would like to become a Victim's Advocate for battered and abused women and children. Would a degree in Criminal Justice be the route to go and/or a specific emphasis? How long does that type of degree typically take to receive? Is it usually easy to find a job in this field once I've received my degree, and do these types of jobs pay decently in the Midwest?
